Embarrassing
..that this kind of thing passes for journalism. Per usual, the howler has the best breakdown and analysis.

Ok...where to begin. The outright venom at anyone who dare publish anything remotely favorable to a conservative...perhaps. But I really don't intend to get into this, because quite frankly, I have my problems with Time Magazine. But...anyone who thinks the New York Times is anything but highly liberal has a skewed perspective--if you believe yourself a centrist, even if you aren't, like-minded views don't seem that radical. Liberals in this country really, really, really need to wake up from this dream that Americans agree largely with them, because they are a distinct minority in the House, control just 44 Senate seats, and do not control the White House. Liberals are as in step with this country as are the British Tories.
I don't disagree much with the conservative pundits dave enjoys ripping. But--I don't believe myself a centrist, and I can quickly figure out that if I agree with something, it's liable to pretty far to the right. The Left, for some odd reason, doesn't yet appear to have grasped this. Hmmm...maybe that's why they keep losing elections in droves. Oh, and if you think Montana is a step in the right direction...you all really are dreaming.
The Time Coulter piece is not embarrassing because it is favorable, but because it is an absurdist, fawning work of incredibly bad journalism.
Did the author John Cloud actually say "...I didn't find many outright Coulter errors"? How incompetent do you have to be to miss her outrageous lies and distortions in so much of what she writes?
It would have been easy enough to do a balanced piece on her work and what it means and represents in the culture at large, despite her loose use of facts and penchant for verbal bomb throwing. But they didn't.
As for the newspaper of record, clearly their editorial page is liberal, and you can make an argument that there is a liberal bias in what they chose to report and not to report, but they do tend to get their facts straight the majority of the time. But let's not forget that they savaged Al Gore in 2000, were quick to print every rumored Clinton scandal, most of which turned out to be fiction, and that they employ Elisabeth Bulumiller to write lavish puff pieces on president Bush about his love of baseball, and what is on his i-pod.
So, I'd say there is a decidedly mixed record there.
