My point is that McCain showed extraordinary leadership in getting the bill to the floor and passed, while Frist attempted to quash it, and the president threatened to veto it.
Yes, Frist, Santorum and most others ultimately voted yes once it became inevitable, presumably deciding they weren't willing to be pegged as pro-torture. Only the 9 from the reddest of red states could risk that vote without much fear of reprisal.
